ART TEACHER
In its commitment to take a holistic approach to education, the Visual Arts Program of Valley Christian Schools is searching to fill a teaching position in its Junior High School Visual Arts Program. VCS is looking for someone who is passionate about creating great experiences for students, actively enhances, grows and develops the God given design of each individual student touched, captures the VCS vision, as it pertains to the Visual Arts, and executes it daily while working to build a unified program for all ages by influencing and creating a community of visual artists throughout the Schools.
This position is responsible to:
1. Teach beginning and intermediate courses in fine art and design studio, with potential for art history and theory. A focus in traditional and digital media will ultimately be necessary, though a focus in one is fine provided that a comfort and willingness to develop in the other exists.
2. Develop pedagogy and curriculum. A traditional focus may include content pertinent to photography, ceramics, sculpture, communication design, drawing and/or painting. While a computer or digital focus might focus on content for digital photography, filmmaking, animation, graphic arts, video and/or web design. Disciplines will be considered as presented.
Qualified candidates will have:
1. A Bachelors, BFA, and/or MFA, and/or a valid teaching credential; preferably in art education if an art degree is not held.
2. Two years of teaching experience desired, preferably in mid to upper grade levels.
3. A portfolio showing a minimum of 12 current works.
4. Multi-disciplinary interests, experience and mastery of materials, preferred.
5. Skillsets in mentoring creative expression, and with departmental duties such as – but not limited to – management of studio space, materials, equipment, and the enhancement of existing curriculum and curriculum development for new forms of artistic expression at the school.

FOREIGN LANUAGE TEACHING POSITIONS
In its commitment to take a holistic approach to education, the Foreign Language Program of Valley Christian Schools is searching for teaching candidates in American Sign Language (ASL), Chinese, Latin and French in its Junior High and High Schools. VCS is looking for people who are passionate about creating great experiences for students, actively enhance, grow and develop the God given design of each individual student touched, capture the VCS vision, as it pertains to Foreign Languages, and execute it daily while working to build a unified program for all ages by influencing and creating a community of individuals driven to impact the world through foreign language throughout the Schools.
These positions are responsible to:
1. Teach beginning, intermediate, advanced and AP courses in these languages for classes in our 6th-12th grades.
2. Develop curriculum and pedagogy as it relates to knowledge of the instructional process and content for the advancement of knowledge in reading, writing, speaking and listening comprehension in these languages and the sharing of real world, cultural experiences with the people and geography, however applicable, who speak/spoke/utilize these languages.
3. Manage materials and equipment necessary for the teaching of these languages as applicable.
4. The ability to assess and evaluate student achievement resulting in modification of instructional activities as required.
Ideal candidates will have:
1. A Bachelors or Master’s level degree, preferably in the language(s) being taught.
2. A teaching credential.
3. Previous teaching experience that demonstrates proven experience and mastery of the language and culture being taught.
4. A current portfolio that represents the candidate’s experiences in articulating a Christian worldview and integrating this same worldview into teaching, academic discipline and/or sharing this worldview with individuals in this culture.
