We believe VCC has always had a calling, from its inception in 1963, that has continued to grow in scope as more people have answered what we refer to as The CallThe Call shapes us and keeps us focused on an emphasis that is directed not only to the spiritual growth of our congregation, but to reaching beyond ourselves to the communities that surround us.

The VCC Story
Curtis and Gloria Smith, prompted by Pastor James Swanson of Bethel Temple, added a room to their Dublin home with space for eighty chairs, a pulpit and a piano. The neighborhood was canvassed and services began with a small nucleus of people, out of which grew our VCC Family.

1963 | Pastor Gene and Joan Anderson serving as Associate Pastors at Bethel Temple, Hayward, are asked to pioneer the new church in Dublin.

1966 | VCC secures the property site of 7400 San Ramon Road (current location of McNamara’s restaurant) and completes the main church building.

1968 | Pastor Rick and Anita Howard become VCC’s second Pastors. Pastor Howard’s leadership resulted the opening of Tri-Valley’s first interdenominational Christian school.

1971 | Pastor Ward and Dixie Tanneberg become our beloved Senior Pastors for the next 23 years!

1972 | Valley Christian Small World Preschool Daycare gets underway and Valley Christian Junior High opens, grades 7 and 8.

1977 | 49 acres of property in the Dublin hills are purchased and preparations are made for a permanent home for our growing VCC family.

1982 | In November of 1982, we dedicate the first buildings “on the hill” for Valley Christian Preschool, Valley Christian Junior and Senior High Schools, and CCTV-28.

1990/1991 | Dedication of the Sycamore Family Center, now known as VCC’s Junior/Senior High School.

1995 | Pastor Kenneth and Judith Mayton leave the Oklahoma hills to come to the VCC hill as our fourth Senior Pastors, during which time the Elementary School moved onto the VCC campus.

2001 | Pastor Ray and Linda Noah begin their ministry as VCC’s fifth Senior Pastors and carry on the vision to reach our valley, and beyond, for Christ.  We add a state-of-the-art athletic field to our campus ministry.

2006 | We launch Phase 1 of Vision to Victory, our facility expansion plan to reach and serve our growing community.

2008 | In November, Pastor Roger and Janae Valci take on the mantle of leadership as Senior Pastors to begin leading us in a new season of grace and growth at Valley Christian Center.

2010 | On June 6, we broke ground on the site of our new Sanctuary; after 47 years, we are trusting God for a building dedicated for worship.  Curtis Smith, who passed away in December 2010, was there to turn over the first shovel of dirt.

2012 | VCC appoints Dave Johnson as Chief Operations Officer.

2013 | VCC appoints Chuck Fleming (Director of Performing Arts) as Superintendent of Schools.
